Heart failure/ spinal fusion.

I have a spinal fusion. My leg strength is at 50%. I also have Chronic Heart Failure. So I get tired easily. At what stage(1 or 2), do you start fluid build up in the lungs? So far dry.

  1. Hi. Thank you for the question. It is a good one. I'm sorry to hear that you are facing challenges with both spinal fusion and heart failure. It's positive to hear that you haven't experienced fluid buildup in your lungs thus far. Typically, fluid in the lungs is associated with the later stages (Stages 3 or 4) of heart failure (https://heart-failure.net/living/four-stages). However, it's important to recognize that every individual's experience with heart failure is unique, and symptoms can vary widely from person to person. What do you think? 1. Good morning. And you are welcome. I see that some hospitals say you qualify if you are under 70 -- plus meat the other qualifications, such as is described here (https://heart-failure.net/living/transplant-qualifications). Is this something you have discussed with your doctor? Wishing you all the best. John. community moderator.

  2. Hello John and thank you for your response. I have had heart failure for over 7 years.I am a vegetarian, however I do eat fish once in a while, I don’t smoke, drink(except a glass of wine a few times a month) and have a very strong immune system. I am 67 so I probably won’t be a candidate for a heart transplant. I am preparing all my finances for when I leave. I am not down or stressed, still bowling. Everyone take care.

    1. Thank you for sharing. You seem to have a very practical approach. Living in the moment can be hard, but a terrific coping mechanism. Take care! Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)

  3. I am just curious since my cardiologist doesn’t say much. Time to mow the lawn.

    1. looked up adalat and will talk to my doctor. I take atacand with a diuretic and amlodipine in combination with lyrica. They have been a lifesavior, especially the lyrica which removes even sore heart pain. L also take anxiety pills to calm me down.
