Meet Your Moderators: Nour Sahib

Welcome to the Heart-Failure.net Meet Your Moderators series! These articles are intended to help our community members better know the people who moderate on our various channels. Heart failure plays a different role in each of our moderators' lives, but our community serves as a place for all to connect and share with one another.

We are beyond grateful for the work these individuals put in to help make this the dynamic and supportive community that it is. We hope you enjoy reading their responses to our questions and learning a bit more about what drives them to help!

Interview with Nour

What role does heart failure play in your life?

I am a community pharmacist, so interacting with people with heart failure is common in my day-to-day practice. I have formed professional relationships with many of these patients over the years and have also personally learned from people’s experiences with the condition.

In my role as a pharmacist, I help check for drug interactions and counsel people on their new heart failure medication. I also communicate with prescribers if there are issues with a prescription. I see how stressed people can be when starting new medications, especially if they have just been discharged from the hospital with an extensive list of new drugs. I try to help these people navigate their new diagnoses.

Why did you decide to become a moderator for Heart-Failure.net?

I hope to share some experiences and insights from a healthcare professional perspective. When I first started moderating, I noticed that there were a lot of questions about medications, and I felt like I could help assist people in understanding their drugs.

I think having a community that includes various perspectives helps maintain engagement and enhance information sharing.

What's been your favorite part of being a moderator for Heart-Failure.net?

I always smile when I see a comment indicating that a member found an article to be helpful or insightful. I've seen many comments where people have said that they felt alone, but now feel more reassured that others know what they are going through. I also admire the support that community members give each other; we really do have an amazing community!

I've also enjoyed seeing the responses and feedback from our other moderators! Each person brings such a unique perspective to the moderating table, and I find that I learn something new every day.

What has your support system been like throughout your journey as a patient or caregiver?

I think that people with heart failure can also look to their healthcare professionals for support. I often hear from patients that their medical team has been integral in their journey. Online communities such as Health Union have done a great job at connecting others in their health journey as well.

Anything else you want to share with our Heart-Failure.net community members?

You are all amazing and strong individuals! I’m lucky and humbled to be part of such a community.
