Advice

Hello
My partner was admitted to hospital in March 2021 with a Dermatology problem and was discharged in April 2021.
When he visited his Dermatologist he looked up his records and told him that the reason he was out of breath he had a heart problem, nobody had spoken to him about this and his Dermatologist told him to go home and speak to his Doctor.
My partner was assigned to a Heart Nurse who is excellent, but he has never seen a Cardiologist in all this time and wondered if this is normal practise?
Thank you for allowing me to join this group.
A concerned carer.

  1. Hi. Welcome to our online community! I see you have joined with us a bit earlier this year and, we're glad to see you already engaging in conversation here in the forums. Your partner is very fortunate to have you advocating on your partner's behalf. You have come to the right place, as we are all about everything heart related. Glad to hear that your partner was referred to a heart nurse and that she is "excellent" as you say. Is this "heart nurse" someone who works for or under a cardiologist? I am likewise curious why you have not seen a cardiologist. Perhaps this may be a good topic to bring up at your next visit with your primary care doctor or your heart nurse? Perhaps you can ask for a referral to a cardiologist? What do you think? John. heart-failure.net community moderator.
