Echo results

I’m brand new to this site and looking for guidance. My echo results show an abnormal Right Ventricular Global longitudinal Strain. -10. I don’t have any official diagnosis, but had the echo due to chest pain. Anyone familiar with RV GLS? So much on the internet but none of it is in layman’s terms. Don’t see the cardiologist for a couple weeks and I am so stressed. ☹️I appreciate your help.

  1. Try not stress before you receive an official diagnosis. Whatever is going on, stress will only make it worse. Your heart has two ventricles (right and left). In this community, you'll see more stories about left ventricles, such as the use of left ventricular assistance device (LVADs) or in most heart failure stories, because the left pumps blood throughout the body. Therefore, it is more commonly injured in heart failure scenarios. There are some stories about right ventricle issues. The right ventricle pumps blood into the lungs only. Issues with the right side can also be dangerous, especially in people who already have issues with the left side. However, it can also be something less scary like pulmonary hypertension, which can be managed with medication or less invasive measures. The good thing is that you went to the doctor instead of ignoring your pain. Unfortunately, since I am not a clinician and couldn't tell you more even if I was without seeing the full picture, I can't say for certain what's going on. I hope this response helped alleviate some stress for you though. Keep us posted!
