Muscle aches after STOPPING atorvastatin?

i know that muscle aches are a common symptom when someone starts this medication but i never experienced this. i’ve been on atorvastatin for a year now but i haven’t taken my medication for a few days due to a pharmacy issue and i’ve had terrible muscle aches. i was wondering if it is possible to have muscle aches as a result of going off of the medicine? or if this is probably unrelated

  1. Good morning, I see you are new to our community, having just signed up a few hours ago. Welcome to our community. I hope you find the support and information you are looking for here. I am sorry that you are having to experience this. It's interesting to hear that you've been on atorvastatin for a year without experiencing muscle aches, and now you're dealing with them after a brief interruption. It does align with the idea of a rebound effect, as discontinuing a medication can sometimes trigger unexpected symptoms. To get a more personalized response, and advice as to what to do, it may be a good idea for you to consult your personal doctor. What do you think? John. community moderator.

    1. Hey . This is a great question to ask your pharmacist and cardiologist since we aren't doctors we can't answer that one. I would be interested to know the answer to that one myself. I wish you all the best. -Olivia
