Heart issues.

Hi. I am a 74 year old female with aortic stenosis which was diagnose three years ago. I ve recently gone from skinny 49kg to 55kg (most of the weight gain around my middle. I've been experiencing chest pain which is not related to my Gastric reflux issues, swelling in my feet, particularly when at rest and a recent, very worrying fainting spell which left me unable to stand up again..i had to crawl back from a visit to the toilet and slowly drag myself back onto my bed. Apologies for the long question but can anyone shed any light on my concerns please. Sue

  1. Hi. Sue. Thank you for your post and your inquiry. So sorry that you are having to experience all of this. No need to apologize for the "long post" as it is actually not long at all but just the perfect length. We are unable to provide medical advice over the Internet, for your own safety of course. I am just curious if this is something you have talked with your doctor about. Your doctor knows you best and should be able to give you the answer you deserve. What do you think? 1. Thankyou John. I am under the care of a Cardiologist and have been for the past 4 years. I am in between appointments at the moment and just thought that I would ask the above. I realise that you cannot give medical advice here - I was just putting the question out there to see if there was anyone else with some or all of the symptoms. Thankyou for your response. Cheers Sue.

      1. Fainting is very serious especially with your other symptoms. Go straight to ER if it happens again. Don't wait for next appointment, call to update your doctor or get in asap to see him.

      2. I completely understand. When is your next appointment and can you reach out to the office now, explain the symptoms, and get an appointment asap? The thing that is most concerning, at least to me, is the chest pain. I would recommend calling your cardiology office, giving them your symptoms, and let them determine what is clinical and appropriate next steps. I would however absolutely recommend that you let them know what is going on ASAP. Also, keep in mind that there is also the emergency room. I hope this helps! Please do not delay in reaching out to your cardiologist or going to the ER if you feel it is urgent. Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)
