Wrongful diagnosis of Heart Failure?? Advice please

My boyfriend went into Afib and when he was cardioverted they reported that his EF was 25%, cardiologist put him on Entresto 24/26 mg, it's been 3 weeks now and he was exercising 2 x a day, eating great, no alcohol and suddenly passed out in the kitchen leading to 3 day stay in hospital, concussion and 7 staples in his head. While he was in the hospital, the completed multiple tests, his echocardiogram came back normal with a EF of 55%, they advised him to discontinue entresto,...... he left not knowing what to do, so stopped the entresto and followed up with cardiologist that prescribed. The cardiologist instructed to continue to take entresto, he asked how could he go from 25% to 55% in 4 weeks, he told him it's possible...
Is it or when u come out of Afib you can't get a real reading and the 25% EF wasn't a true look at his heart? 3rd opinion scheduled in July at Cleveland clinic. 🤞 thank you

  1. Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining this community! I'm so sorry to hear that your boyfriend has truly had a rough run lately. This must be so much to manage and worry about. I'm linking an article from our site that discusses heart failure medications. What Medications Are Used for Heart Failure? Enestro is medication in a class of drugs called ARNI, which are known to increase heart function over time. I think that your plan of seeking a third opinion is a great choice. The more information you and your boyfriend have, the better the plan moving forward. Please keep us in the loop. Best of luck! Lauren (Team member)

    1. I realize the limitations. I lived in MT. for 30 years. The medical care there is abysmal. But the Univ. Of WA is not THAT far away. Buses run that way. Heart Failure is no fun. Important to get a true diagnosis. Get an appt. No matter how far away. It takes months to get an appt. Even in the best circumstances. Look for ways to get there. Save your Pennie’s. And then go. I got into a study. Once in I am able to get state of the art care. It is worth the struggle,. I’m routing for all
