Just diagnosed

Hi all.
This is my first post on the forum and was looking for s little insight.
I was recently diagnosed with heart failure. I have arrhythmia also that caused Me to pass out and start convulsing.
After the echo cardiogram they advised me that I have left ventricle swelling with thinning heart wall along with scar tissue. I have a lot of abdominal swelling and pee a lot.
If anyone has had anything like I've listed could you please answer and advise how progressive this has been for you and what the treatment given has been? Until My
MRI the consultant doesn't want to start treatment until he knows what my ejection fraction is.
I am a little worried and don't really have anyone I can talk to about it. Tia

  1. I'm unfamiliar with this condition. But I really hope you recover quickly.

    1. Thank you so much.

      1. Hi, be strong! 😀

My heart is also swelling, because it works harder than it should, because some part of the heart is dead (scar tissue). Valves are also becoming too small and leaking.

I've experienced swelling in my feet and abdomen. There was also water (or blood?) in my lungs that makes me "almost don't feel the air" although I breathe very deeply. Very frustrating 😀

Currently I don't experience any of those symptoms, because of medications, exercises, and "correct" diet. Heart failure can become worse very quickly, or it may/can be managed to prolong life (and its quality).

I think ejection fraction is also available after an Echo, but let's just wait for the MRI/consultant because there are many different cases/types that should be handled with different approaches.

Yes it's better to talk about it, especially here 😀

        1. Hi! I've had experience with this and I've also suffered from arrhythmia caused by dilated cardiomyopathy. It is a heart muscle disease that occurs when the heart can't pump efficiently. My ejection fraction when I first got diagnosed was only 10-12%. With medications, it went up to 25%. Thank you for posting this, and feel free to reach out!
