Silent heart attacks

What are your thoughts after having one? Do you panic when you can't feel your heart beat or when it beats too fast ? I do and I feel like I'm just waiting to die .

  1. I've been worrying constantly about my ticker and unfortunately had a heart attack last Friday, recovering now,

    1. I was a commercial pilot (single pilot aircraft) carrying passengers and had a silent heart attack back in 2005. Just felt sweaty and kind of dizzy for a few seconds and never gave it another thought UNTIL I saw my cardiologist where I found that the lower part of my LV was extremely damaged. As you may guess that was the end of my flying days.

    2. What an awfully shocking discovery at your doctor's appointment. I'm sorry to hear that your flying days are behind you. It sounds like an amazing career. Were you able to pivot into another career after retiring from flying? -Lauren (Team member)

  2. Hi , this must be such a scary feeling for you. How often are you feeling your heart race? Have you checked in with your doctor to let them know you are having this feeling? Panic and anxiety related to heart failure is not uncommon. I'm linking an article that discusses tools to help deal with anxiety. https://heart-failure.net/living/anxiety-coping I hope that you are able to incorporate some of these tools into your life if you think they may help. Please let us know how you make out after checking in with your doctor. Wishing you the best, Lauren (team member)

    1. Thanks for your question and we are sorry about how you are feeling. I have not had a heart attack, but I am enclosing an article that explains the signs you should look for. I hope that it helps. https://heart-failure.net/living/panic-or-heart-attack Wishing you all the best. -Olivia

        1. Hi Olivia, It makes a difference hearing others' stories, especially when you're feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about what comes next. I'm new to the forum, but already finding a lot of comfort just reading through everyone’s experiences and support. Hope Greg is doing okay and recovering well.
