What does LV mass mean?

I return to my cardiologist tomorrow 7/26. My echo results are in, but some numbers concerned me. In layman's terms what does LV mass mean? I'm guessing my left ventricle? Is 296.5 g bad?

  1. , Good luck with the upcoming appointment, I sometimes write my questions down beforehand to make sure that I do not forget and get derailed in the appointment. LV , would refer to the Left Ventricle. I do believe the LV mass is the weight of the Left ventricle. I would certainly suggest that you ask your doctor in your upcoming appointment to explain what the normal range is for you.

Do you feel ready for the next appointment?

    1. Hi there, good luck at your doctor's appointment, let us know how you make out. LV Mass is the weight of the left ventricle (like you mentioned). This number is typically used in a calculation in reference to your body weight and height. I hope this helps! -Lauren (team member)
