  1. I read all kinds of information regarding heart failure from many many websites. Most are from Medical information websites. Most of the i nformation is just the basics and all websites essentially provide the same information. I want to know more about the “real life” symptoms of heart failure and not just the medical school “text book” information. I want to know the about obscure symptoms that so many are affected by such as, in my case, why I feel like I have the flu all the time, minus the fever, every single day. Why am I so exhausted even though my Stage 3 Congestive Heart Failure is stable. Why does my belly and intestines feel super bloated and swollen some days even though I am on Loop diuretics. My ankles aren’t swollen however. There are no answers to obscure questions like these anywhere online. There needs to be a platform for people that still have odd, but semi-common symptoms for those who have heart failure “AND” are being treated for it. Most online information I see when asking about the above questions are answers that are geared for those who are not yet being treated OR even diagnosed with heart failure. It’s incredibly frustrating.

    1. I’m diagnosed with Diastolic Heart Failure and I experience leg swelling unless I am ULTRA good on my diet avoiding sugar and sodium as much as possible. If I don’t than legs swell, must take water pill and pee all day to get the water out. Tired a lot but good days too. Exercise and water important

    2. Thank you for sharing. I am with you on the fact that if I am not super careful on my sodium intake, I experience swelling and I'm peeing all the time! It is tough. And yes, I also find that exercise and water are important. How do you cope with these restrictions and rules? Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)

  2. My Elderly mom is having Congestive Heart Failure for last 5 years and developed other complications like CKD and actute Liver failure. Doctors have indicated that we need to do end of life care at home. Would like to understand what to expect?

  4. Lack of muscle, loose skin, shortness of breath

    1. I have had CHF since 2014 and had a bad bout in 2018 resulting in a pacemaker/defibrillator placement and a heart ablation. But I have had muscle wasting and other problems... Numbness of arms and especially hands and feet, knee pain and numbness that I had no idea they could be related to my CHF. I just read an article about these symptoms could be due to something I can't remember, but I did save it, thankfully. I had left hip replacement also during my device placement. I have had the numbness I spoke of and poor balance and I fall all the time. 4 bad falls this past year. I walk my dog every day and thought it would get better, but seems worse sometimes. I get so frustrated and depressed over this. PT after hip surgery did not help.

    2. Thank you for sharing, that does sound like a lot!!! That's a lot to cope with🙁 What does your doctor say about the numbness and poor balance? Would you consider getting a second opinion? Why did PT and not help and would you try PT with a different provider? Also, have you considered mental health support to help you manage all of this emotionally?
