Heart Disease Age, 42

Hello, so I have familial hyper cholesterol and had my first stent at 30 years old. I now have a total of 5 and I’m 42. My question is this…..I have had heart palpitations on and off for years now, usually I just take my nitroglycerin and it goes away. Will this always be an issue? Last night I felt a discomfort in my chest that I have felt many times in the past, it was followed by sweating all over. This has happened several times before as well, I took my nitroglycerin and it went away. Is this something I should be worried about, or just normal for someone with heart disease and 5 stents?

  1. Hi. I see you posted about a month ago and have yet to receive a response. I do believe your inquiry is worthy of a reply. Of course we are unable to offer medical advice, or offer treatment advice, over the internet, as I'm sure you know. I think, in your case, the best course of action is to talk to your cardiologist, as this person knows you and your health condition best. Your doctor should be able to give you an answer to your question -- is this something you have done already? John. heart-failure.net community moderator.

    1. I would second John's recommendation to consult your cardiologist -- or the ER. Chest pain should not be fooled with. Especially if the number of episodes is increasing or becoming worse. How are you feeling today?
