Heart rate

Just did a two week holter test for palpations (found it was caffeine induced) my primary said nothing concerned him although I had a high heart rate 1% of the time. Over 100. He said it was high normal not abnormal. The over 100 corisponded with walking on my apple watch. I've tested a few things. 4 MPH walk for 15 min yielded a average heart rate of 118. 50 BPM cardiac recovery after 3 mins. Resting heart rate is 49 to 52. What concerns me is normal walking around my heart rate is 105 to 110. That seems high to me. Im 6'1 210 lbs. LDL was 59, HDL 75, trygliseride 25. Should I find a cardiologist?

  1. Hi. I see you are new to our community, having just joined up earlier today. Welcome. Glad to see you are already participating here in the forums. Thank you for sharing your personal experience with us. It sounds like your doctor is ordering all the right tests to monitor how you are doing. I would think, if you continue to be concerned about your heart, getting a second opinion from a cardiologist would be a valid option for you. Do you have a personal or family history of heart issues? John. heart-failure.net community moderator.

    1. thank you for the response. My mother didn’t have any heart issues and my father died of a heart attack at 72. He smoked 60 years and was wa a alcoholic. I’m 48 BTW.

  2. Thank you for the fast update. I am not sure if you need a referral to a cardiologist, in which case you would have to discuss this further with your primary care physician. Or, perhaps, a good first step may be calling a cardiologist's office to see if they would be able to get you in for a checkup. Do you have a cardiologist in mind you are hoping to see? 1. I really don’t. I’m sure I’d need to stay in network. I’ll See if they will give me a referral.

  3. Please do give us an update on how things progress, and what you end up deciding to do. Good luck! John. heart-failure.net community moderator.
