How do you manage pain?

A common complaint for people with heart failure is chronic pain. In fact, one study found that up to 85% of people with HF experience pain. What are some ways that you manage pain? Have you tried anything that hasn't worked? Share your experiences below!

  1. Tylenol

    1. Thanks for sharing that Tylenol works well for you. How often would you say that you take Tylenol? All the best, Lauren (Team member)

  2. Ranolozine

    1. Hi there, how often are using Ranolozine (and experiencing angina)? I hope not to often! Otherwise, what symptoms of heart failure might you experience? I'm linking an article that reviews common symptoms. https://heart-failure.net/symptoms All the best, Lauren (Team member)

  3. I see a pain management doctor/NP and use narcotics, muscle relaxer, and topicals (voltaren gel, bio freeze) as well as stretching, mild exercise and physical therapy as needed. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and was diagnosed with CHF due to reaction to a rheumatoid infusion medication. Fortunately my CHF has not caused me angina.

    1. Hi Pam, thanks for sharing. Do you feel as though your pain is well managed with your treatment plan? I hope so! -Lauren (team member)

  4. I use Tylenol and lots of heat packs. Mine are microwave packs filled with rice or small beans. I have used Voltaren gel also.

    1. Yes I have one of those also. They are relaxing ☺️

    2. Right? So good! Thanks for following up. All the best, Lauren (Team member)
