Irregular EKG and issues when lying down

So the doc said my ekg showed a anomaly that could be one of my top valve's is only half way working. I had a echocardiogram done Tueday but havent heard anything back yet. I just turned 39 and he said because of my age he doesnt think it would be heart disease. So hopefully the echo shows what's going on. And for the past month if I lie down flat at night ever so often I get my breathe taken away where I have to sit up real fast. Not sure if its related but this all has me super worried. I really think somethings going on

  1. Hi. Sorry for the late reply. I did not see your post and inquiry until now. I see you posted on September 29 and that you did not hear back about the results from your echocardiogram. I am wondering if you could give us an update. How are you feeling today? Did your doctor give you the results of the echo? I am curious to know how you are doing and what your doctor said. Wishing you all the best. John. heart-failure.net community moderator.

    1. One of my major symptoms, before I was diagnosed with end stage heart failure, was being unable to breathe at all lying down. I, too, had to fly out of bed. After being diagnosed at Mayo Clinic, my cardiologist stated that it was because my heart was working so inefficiently, fluid pools and makes it impossible to breathe. Those episodes I had were extremely scary to the point I would pass out from suffocation. Since being treated with several meds, none of which I have side effects, I feel amazing.
Make sure you are being treated by a cardiologist that is extremely knowledgeable on heart failure. There is hope for sure!

      1. Hi. Again, I'm truly glad to hear that you've been able to find relief and improvement in your health after receiving proper treatment for your heart failure. Your journey from experiencing severe breathing difficulties to feeling amazing now is inspiring. It's reassuring to know that effective medical intervention and the right medications have made such a positive impact on your well-being. Thank you for sharing your experience and offering valuable advice to others who might be going through similar challenges. Your words about seeking out a knowledgeable cardiologist and holding onto hope are both meaningful and encouraging. Wishing you continued health and positivity on your path forward. All the best. 1. Thank you so much for your kind words and you are an encouragement to me, as well. My HF was caused by Covid. I was beyond healthy before my infection and up to several months after. To say this has up-ended my life is an understatement. But Im continually thankful with my healing process that even my Mayo Drs are perplexed. I hope somehow my story is an encouragement to others. Always, there is hope!
