My injection fraction is 35%

It isn’t getting any better after a yr of being on medication. My cardiologist said there is nothing else to do except a pacemaker. Surely there is?!!

  1. You sound discouraged. My EF is also quite low. I try not to concentrate on the number but instead focus on how I am feeling. I seem to be doing much better than my number would have you believe. How about you?

    1. Well, I’m not feeling great either. I am so fatigued all the time.
I am watching what I eat & taking all the meds but not getting better- but I guess I have died either so….

      1. I definitely empathize on how you are feeling right now. Before I received my first dual chamber pacemaker in 2005, I was constantly tired, needed breaks, sat down quite a bit and all around just drained. My adult congenital cardiologist mentioned the word pacemaker and I wanted to run to the hills and hide. However in the end, I ultimately didn’t have much choice because for me, my heart was stopping at 6 second intervals throughout the day and my only option was major open heart surgery plus a pacemaker.

Having a medical procedure is very scary and stressful at the same time as well as taking medications for your heart. Hope you make the best decisions for your health.

    2. thank you so much for sharing your ejection fraction with us and sorry that the medications didn't bring it back up. When I was diagnosed at 25, my EF was 10-15%. The doctors put me on medication and my EF went up to 25%. They put a defibrillator in as a precautionary measure just in case I went into cardiac arrest. Since we aren't doctors we can't give you medical advice, but here are some articles that may help. https://heart-failure.net/pacemaker
