Non Compaction Cardiomyopathy

Hi all,

Wonderful to have found this helpful forum. I’m 45 and was recently diagnosed with NCC. It was all discovered by chance as I didn’t know of any family members with a similar diagnosis. A routine visit to the cardiologist revealed an EF 45 and after various tests including and angiogram which was clear I eventually got a heart MRI which gave the final diagnosis. I’m on two different beta blockers and a mild blood thinner. I feel ok overall never had any symptoms but I’ve been instructed to generally avoid strenuous activities and stress which sucks cause I really enjoyed going to the gym. Anyway just wanted to know if anyone else has a similar diagnosis who could share their experience as doctors are a bit vague at the moment.

Thank you

Ben

  1. Thank you for reaching out. Personally, I have never heard of NCC. I have your 'garden variety' heart failure. LOL. With an EF of 45, are you experience any symptoms of heart failure or NCC? Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)

    1. Well it’s a hereditary condition where the heart inner walls don’t develop as they should. I haven’t experienced any real symptoms apart from the occasional arrhythmia where I feel like my heart skips a beat.
