Thank you for reaching out to our community. I am on three diuretics', so I understand your pain. I also get indentations with socks, but I look at other symptoms of fluid retention as well so I'm looking at the whole pictures. For instance, has your doctor told you to monitor your weight?
As far as waking up with a horrendously full bladder, I get that 200%. To combat that, I try to not take my diuretics' right before bed because I don't have the same senses to use the restroom when I'm sleeping as when I am awake. Also, when I do take the diuretics' I try to set myself up for success so the meds can kick in before I am asleep; I am relaxed, calm and laying flat! Said another way, I have found that when I'm up and moving around, diuretics' don't kick in the same way. Are you also watching your sodium? I have found that I have learned the amount of sodium that works for my body, which is below the amount of sodium that my doctor said was the maximum amount I can eat daily; if I go above the amount of sodium that works for my body, then my diuretics' don't create the same outflow. I hope this helps! Keep up the hard work!! Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)
