Urgency, indentation. losing urine

Hi! My name is Felisa you can call me fefe for short. I take 1mg bumex daily and spirolactone 25mg daily. Sometimes I go frequently, sometimes not so much.
I empty my bladder before bed, but when I wake up, it's not just full, it horrendously full and distended. When I get up and going I lose/ leak urine. My brother and sister (husband and wife) don't want shoes on the carpet, I wear socks. No matter what type of socks I get indentions. Does anyone else experience this is it normal?

  1. Thank you for reaching out to our community. I am on three diuretics', so I understand your pain. I also get indentations with socks, but I look at other symptoms of fluid retention as well so I'm looking at the whole pictures. For instance, has your doctor told you to monitor your weight?
As far as waking up with a horrendously full bladder, I get that 200%. To combat that, I try to not take my diuretics' right before bed because I don't have the same senses to use the restroom when I'm sleeping as when I am awake. Also, when I do take the diuretics' I try to set myself up for success so the meds can kick in before I am asleep; I am relaxed, calm and laying flat! Said another way, I have found that when I'm up and moving around, diuretics' don't kick in the same way. Are you also watching your sodium? I have found that I have learned the amount of sodium that works for my body, which is below the amount of sodium that my doctor said was the maximum amount I can eat daily; if I go above the amount of sodium that works for my body, then my diuretics' don't create the same outflow. I hope this helps! Keep up the hard work!! Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)

    1. I take my diuretic in the morning. I attempt to avoid large amounts of sodium. I cannot lay flat, I'm often on my left side. I also have CKD chronic kidney disease my kidney function is at 45%. Some days I pee a lot some days I dont

      1. Thanks for sharing! You say that you attempt to avoid large amounts of sodium. What are the challenges that you are facing? Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)

    2. Hi Morgan! Some of the challenges I face are : what foods are being cooked for dinner, or if we are eating out, (picking up the food bringing back home to eat) I enjoy chips, but eat a few at a time. I don't live alone, I live with my family members total 7 people in the house.

      1. I hear you! Would it be helpful if you had a plan in place for when you can't share what the others are eating? Ie, do you have a few easy to make, low sodium, meal options when you need to fend for yourself? If this helps, my go to easy options are one scrambled egg and grilled vegetables, and flavored olive oil and vinegars on the veggies helps make it more interesting. Or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or baked potato with a little sour cream, chives and black pepper? Like you, there are times when my fiancé is eating something I cannot and I do not have the energy to grocery shop, cook, clean up, etc. I have found that have some options ready helps me out in a pinch! 3. Also, I finally got my excess fluid off and then some! I was at 349 went to 352.6 weighed myself this morning I'm 344 5! My feet are normal size! My bladder wasn't excessively full this morning

      1. Good for you! Keep up the hard work! Are you feeling better with the fluid off as well? Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)
