What is heart failure

Heart failure is a word that seems to be used often with heart disease and I'm not sure what it means. It sounds terrible to hear a doctor said you have heart faiure but how bad is that. I have not been told that yet but just planning ahead.

  1. This is a great question and it is always good to go over the basics again. There is so much information and terminology out there. I am linking you to a great article about the basics of what heart failure is. I do believe this will answer your questions better than I can sum it up in a sentence or two.

Like with most things in life, there are various degrees of things. Have you recently been experiencing issues or been for a check-up? - Clair ( Team Member)

    1. Thank you for sharing and it’s definitely good to plan ahead for the unknown possibilities. There’s various levels of heart failure, some of which people don’t even recognize to be a form of heart failure even though it could be, such as: seizures. From a personal experience with heart failure, the last time a cardiologist told me I was in heart failure brought a huge array of emotions to light because I knew I was on the road to transplantation. The word transplantation was a lot to take in and digest mainly because I was informed that I needed a dual transplant and the hospital I was at couldn’t do a dual transplant so I had to relocate to a location that was able to successfully complete a dual transplant if needed.
