What tips for keeping CHF away

Just got back from cardiologist. My afib caused me to go into heart failure. I had a cardiac ablation the day before symptoms occurred. Later that day couldn't breathe went to er.she said I was in normal sinus rhythm now. So now afraid of it happening again. What should I do to help prevent it?

  1. Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately, we cannot provide medical advice. What are you referring to happening again, the afib or heart failure symptoms? I would recommend asking your cardiologist, and if you don't feel like you get a complete answer don't forget that you can get a second opinion! I do believe there are medications for afib as well? But again, great questions for your doctor(s). I can also tell you that there are medications for heart failure as well. I am on lots! Do you have a follow up appointment with your cardiologist? 1. Yes I saw cardiologist today that did my ablation. Tomorrow I see my regular cardiologist. I'm on entresto for heart failure. Plus water pill. Propefenone for rhythm. I just have to watch fluid intake. Try and continue to lose weight.

      1. Thank you for the update! Hopefully you will feel more at ease after you see your regular Cardiologist as well. It seems like you are on several meds to manage both conditions, which is good news? How do you feel about that? Did your cardiologist also talk to you about sodium restrictions? How is the weight loss going? Morgan (heart-failure.net Moderator)

      2. Thanks for sharing that you had your post ablation follow up appointment? Were you able to share your concerns with your doctor? Best of luck on your fluid status and weight loss journey. I'm linking an article that explains why daily weights when watching fluid status is so important. I hope you find this article helpful. https://heart-failure.net/search?s=daily%20weights Let us know what you think! -Lauren (team member)
