Bipap for sleeping and daily bouts of shortness of breath

My husband has been gaining relief from shortness of breath for a couple months by using a bipap machine. We’re curious if others use this machine as part of their heart therapy.

  1. Great question. I am curious what others have to say about your question. That said, I also have my own response for you. I work as a respiratory therapist at my local hospital, and it is my job to set up and manage BiPAP machines for those who may benefit from them. And I do have many patients with heart failure who use them with great benefit. And I also know by reading many of the comments on this site that others in this community use this machine. In fact, it was based on this that I wrote a couple articles on this topic. I will post them here for you or others who may be interested. (https://heart-failure.net/search?s=bipap). Wishing you all the best. John. heart-failure.net community moderator.

    1. Yes I certainly do use my CPAP for naps during the day and sometimes for just watching the tube. My breathing is so bad I am on oxygen 24/7 and my CPAP has an oxygen feed into it. It really helps me to relax.

      1. Thank you for your response. A couple more questions if I may: Do you also sleep with that at night? And is this a CPAP or is it a BiPAP?
