Fighting Fatigue

Heart failure has many symptoms, and fatigue is one of them for some people. Use this space to share about (or vent about) your experience with fatigue.

  1. My experience with fatigue started when I was diagnosed with advanced heart failure. Just walking around my house or waking up in the morning and wanting to lay in the bed. Doing anything physical was hard to do.

    1. I feel like I just woke up, but feel like that almost the entire day. Groggy and listless. Very little energy and needing a long nap about 6-7 hours into my day, every day.

      1. Thank you for chiming in! I concur with the sentiment of having very little energy and needing a long nap during the day as well. It's like fighting a battle with yourself daily. I still haven't found the answer to not feeling fatigued. People always say to go for a walk to occupy your mind, but it's easier said than done. -Olivia

    2. I get depressed over being so tired. Some days I just can't do anything.

      1. Thanks for chiming in. I've dealt with this and was so depressed that I eventually had to seek professional help. It wasn't easy but I'm glad I saught out help. How do you manage the days of being depressed and tired? -Olivia

    3. I have CAD but I'm also on dialysis so no telling which on causes the fatigue. Some days I nod off sitting at my desk.

      1. Thank you for sharing and sorry that you are dealing with fatigue. For me, this is the hardest part of heart failure and it is hard to deal with. I don't have experience with dialysis so I won't speak on that part. What are you doing to combat the fatigue and have you spoken to your doctor about ways that you can? -Olivia
