Vomiting after heart failure

Hi everyone,

Glad to be connected with this community for support.

My dad has been diagnosed with heart failure and doctor mentioned ita pretty bad. We have refused bypass surgery due to issues with fluid in lungs (got better with medicines) and kidney, and he is now under palliative care at home (he has refused hospice).

He has frequent episodes of vomiting and eats less food. He's on oxygen concentrator as well.

This is pretty stressful to manage with a full time job as well. Can someone please let me know of bouts of these episodes are regular or if these can be made better at home? Generally what's the life expectancy in such cases?

Thanks in advance for all your guidance.

  1. Hello and welcome to our community! As a heart failure survivor, I've had vomiting episodes to the point where not even keep food as well as water down. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with advanced heart failure at the hospital and had to get an LVAD, did the episodes subside. Every case is different with heart failure, so there's no way to tell what the life expectancy is unless you talk to his cardiologist. I hope this answer helped. All the best! -Olivia
