Hi. Great question. Yes, high blood pressure (also referred to as hypertension) does put a person at increased risk for developing heart disease and heart failure. There is an article that explains high blood pressure and it's link to heart failure. I will post a link to it here (https://heart-failure.net/living/hypertension) if you want to check it out. Basically, a high blood pressure means that your heart is working extra hard to push blood through your blood vessels. If this is untreated, over a long period of time this can cause your heart to poop out, resulting in heart failure. So, this is why it is so important to get proper treatment for high blood pressure. I have this, and thanks to medicine, my blood pressure is under control, and this reduces my risk of heart failure significantly. Is high blood pressure something that you are dealing with?
