Pain after stent:

I'm a 62 year old female and I had a stent placed in my LAD artery at the end of February this year, so it's been 3 months. The catherization doctor told me that all my other arteries were 50% or less. Other than being allergic to Plavix, I haven't had any issues since my stent was placed and I have actually felt better since the stent. This week out of nowhere, I had chest pains that radiated into my jaws. I took a
nitroglycerin and that immediately helped with the pain. In no time, I was feeling fine. I went to the ER and they did all the test and they all came back normal. I called my cardiologist which happens to be out of town until Monday and told the nurse the issue I had on Wednesday of this week. She said once he gets a chance to read over my ER test on Monday, he would decide what kind of test, if any, to do.
Has anyone else experienced chest pains after your stents? Is this something normal or should I be concerned? I would think 3 months is a long time for the stent to still be stretching? I have felt fine since the episode on Wednesday and hope it doesn't happen again.

  1. Thank you for sharing. Yes, I did feel discomfort after 5 stents placed in my heart. It went away after a week. I would check with your cardiologist, but for some people it’s reasonably common to have some discomfort. If you’re still having some discomforts, please contact your cardiologist.
