Sotalol

Hello to all. I was recently told by my cardiologist that I would need to stop my Amiodarone for Afib and start taking Sotalol. Yes, I've have just about 2 episodes of Afib since 2022. I don't understand why I would need to be hospitalized to start this medication, which is scary to me. I know the hospitalization is for monitoring and I'm to be admitted for 3 days. What if something was to happen on the fourth day. Has anyone else taken this medicine?

  1. Hi there! Thanks for sharing your question here with us. This must be so frustrating, to be admitted to the hospital for a medication chance! Did you have a chance to discuss this with your doctor? I wonder what the rationale is behind the hospital stay. Let us know how you make out. -Lauren (Team member)

    1. It's very much so frustrating. For instance, no one here has responded. No matter where I go no one seems to have heard about this medicine

      1. I understand your frustration related to your new medication. I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with this shift. Unfortunately, as you know, we are unable to provide any medical advice of any kind. Your doctor will be able to further explain the reasoning behind their decisions. Please let us know how you make out after you reach out to your doctor. -Lauren (Team member)
